The next meeting of the Special Education Parent Advisory Group will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 6:30pm in the district administration building, lower level. Presenters and topics will be:
Karen Menke – Abilities of NW Jersey/Employment Pathways
Karen Menke, Employment Services Manager of Abilities of NW Jersey/Employment Pathways, will share information regarding the vocational and day services available through the agency to adults with disabilities. The organization works closely with DVRS and DDD/FFS counselors in Hunterdon, Morris, Sussex and Warren Counties. Abilities of NW Jersey/Employment Pathways have recently opened up a satellite office in Flemington so that they can better serve consumers that live in Hunterdon County. Specifically, Karen will discuss their programs in which they provide to students upon graduation and their transition services. Abilities of NW Jersey/ Employment Pathways can be of service to staff, the North Hunterdon and Voorhees students and their families as they begin to discuss transitioning from school into adult life.
Scott Cohen – Transition Expo
Mr. Cohen, a Parent Advocate and Hunterdon Central Regional High School SEPAG Chair, will share valuable information regarding the upcoming Transition Expo.
Michael Steinbruck – Person Centered Approaches to Transition Planning
Michael Steinbruck, MA, is the PCAST Project Leader at The Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities. Mr. Steinbruck’s programmatic focus is on developing the Person Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST) project. He leads the project’s training and technical assistance activities related to the development and delivery of person-centered thinking and planning, and works with schools on implementation of person-centered approaches and related organizational improvement efforts.
