Revised 3-31-08
Dear Parents and/or Guardians:
As you well know, the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District is
facing the challenge of a steadily growing student population. For several
years, the parents and students of the North Hunterdon High School sending
districts had been able to select either North Hunterdon High School or Voorhees
High School as their school of choice. Board of Education Policy 5111.1
stipulates that when either of our high schools reaches 90% functional capacity,
the superintendent notifies the community in October of that year that school
choice is no longer an option for the next school year.

Consequently, beginning with the 2005-2006 school year, school choice was
eliminated as an option for the North Hunterdon High School sending districts of
Bethlehem Township, Clinton Township, Franklin Township, Lebanon Borough, Glen
Gardner, and Union Township.
The exceptions to the policy are as follows:
- A family already has a student attending Voorhees High
School and wants to keep siblings together
- (New) A family had a student
attend Voorhees High School and wishes to maintain a continuity of tradition
by having siblings attend the same alma mater
- Fulfillment of the requirements of an IEP
- For a mental health issue
If
one of the above exceptions relates to your incoming freshman and you would like
him/her to attend Voorhees High School instead of
North Hunterdon High School, please send me a request for this change by May
15.
The Board of Education has re-commissioned the Ad Hoc Space Utilization
Committee to study the issue of student population growth and to develop a
long-term, comprehensive student enrollment and facility usage plan.
Thank you for your continued support of our efforts on behalf of your
children. If you have questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Charles M. Shaddow, Ph.D.
Superintendent of Schools
