About the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional
High School District DISTRICT GOALS FOR Community Service The district will enhance options to increase the percent of students participating in community service activities during their high school experience. Literacy The district will fully implement an advanced literacy program. Space Utilization The district will evaluate facilities to assess existing instructional space and determine current and future needs. Our district is comprised of North Hunterdon High School located in Annandale, NJ and Voorhees High School in Glen Gardner, NJ. All together we educate over 3,100 students from 12 different municipalities, making us the largest high school district in Hunterdon County. We also have the largest Board of Education in the state with 13 members, who each have a weighted vote. Our high schools are nationally ranked amongst the best public high schools in the country and we are currently in the top 40 high schools in the state of New Jersey. North Hunterdon High School was selected as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2001 by the U.S. Department of Education. We strive to provide our students with every opportunity to succeed through our diverse and rigorous curriculum, which includes vocational courses at nearby Hunterdon County Polytech, our numerous student activities, and our highly successful athletic program.
KEY FACTS ABOUT THE DISTRICT
ABOUT OUR FINANCES The following information provides a sense of how our finances are broken down. We are always conscious that the majority of our school budget is dedicated to educating our students. Over the last 10 years, we have seen a steady increase in our enrollment, which has resulted in high increases within our budget. Luckily, we are now entering a demographically stable environment. Though the enrollment in North Hunterdon High School has increased slightly in 2007, Voorhees enrollment has decreased.
* The Comparative Cost Per Pupil represents comparisons with districts of similar budget type. The components that comprise the comparative cost per pupil are as follows: classroom instructional costs; support services (attendance and social work, health services, guidance office, child study team, library and other educational media); administrative costs (general administration, school administration, business administration, and improvement of instruction); operations/maintenance of plant; food services, and extracurricular costs. The total of these expenditures is divided by the average daily enrollment to calculate a total comparative cost per pupil.
