Congratulations to all the AP Music Theory students who took the test. I’m very proud of your accomplishments!
AP Extra Sessions
Extra sessions will be held on Monday and Tuesday from 3:10 to 4:15 in preparation for the test.
AP for 4/17
Please read K/P pages 472-479 which deal with modes and other “alternative” scale forms.
Over the break
Enjoy your vacation! Study the terms sheet and define any term you are unfamiliar with. You will be given a short terms quiz on Monday, April 16.
Addendum for 4/2
When you go to the imslp home page, first you must click on “Petrucci music library”, then follow the instructions below. Also, the audio performance on the works page is not particularly good. A better experience is to follow along with a recording by Mitsuko Uchida availabe on youtube. She is an incredible Mozart interpreter.
Assignment for Monday, 4/2
Go to the website imslp.org. In the search box type Mozart Piano Sonata no. 13 in Bb major k. 333. On the page for this piece, listen to the recordings of each movement while following the score. (the second score choice, a pdf uploaded by “unknown” is a good choice.) Note the key signature and form of each movement. Send me an email by Monday morning with that information: the key of each movement and the “macro” form of each movement. Look for clues in the score while listening. Good luck.
AP for Thursday 3/29
Complete a “timeline” analysis of Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik movement III
AP for Monday, 3/26
Recording of PDP melody will commence on Monday. Read chapter 20 in K/P. We will spend the week discussing and analyzing larger musical forms.
AP for Tuesday 3/20
Read K/P chapter 19. Continue to prepare parallel period vocal performance from Sightsinging V
AP for Friday
Complete harmonization (w/ V/vi and V/ii). Bring K/P. Read Chapter 17. CDP melodies with harmonization and bass line is due Monday.
