Bus pass requests will be considered for legitimate reasons, such as work and studying, if space is available. Students must use existing bus stops as no new stops will be created for bus passes. Bus passes will be refused on buses that are at capacity.
Bus passes will be issued in accordance with the following procedure:
- Student must bring in a note from parent/guardian stating the need for a bus pass.
- Bus pass requests must be brought into the Attendance Office. Bus passes are not issued by the Guidance Office (except in cases of new students or students who have a change of address) or the Transportation Department.
- For students going to another student’s house, 2 notes are needed, one from each parent/guardian. If one (or both) of the students does not have a written note, the Attendance Office will need parental/guardian verification either verbally by phone or in an e-mail sent to the Attendance Office. If both students’ parent/guardian does not verify/confirm the request, the bus pass will be denied.
- If the bus pass is requested for employment purposes, the student must bring in a note from the employer and a note from parent/guardian. If the student needs to go on a different bus, the parent/guardian must first call Transportation (Hunterdon County ESC at 908-638-5906), get bus route information and check availability of space on the bus. The bus route information should be in the note to the Attendance Office.
Bus passes can be issued permanently or temporarily based on need.
