Congratulations to senior softball first baseman Jessica Nolan who has wielded the biggest bat during North Hunterdon’s 5-1 start, notching at least one hit and two RBIs in each of North’s four games, posting a 7-for-11 Week 1 with three doubles and nine RBIs.
The three-year starter was key again Thursday in the Lions’ biggest victory to date, ripping a single and double – accounting for two of only four hits her team managed against Montgomery ace Peyton Schnackenberg in a 3-1, nine-inning victory. She also scored a run and helped generate two more on the bases.
“When Jess was a sophomore, we struggled that year at 14-16, but she had 36 RBIs,” North Hunterdon coach Anthony Rotondo said. “And last year she struggled, got into a slump at the beginning of the year and never got out of it. We’re seeing the Jess Nolan that we had two years ago, and thank God, because we need her. She’s just locked in right now, she’s a really good first baseman, and there’s nobody else we want up in a big spot now than Jess.”
