NHHS's Marisa Tomsky Signs National Letter of Intent to Play Lacrosse at Iona College

Marisa Tomsky, a Senior Attack for North Hunterdon High School, signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her lacrosse career at Iona College in New Rochelle, NY, where she will be pursuing a degree in mass communications through Iona's accredited communications program.  Marisa has been a varsity player for North Hunterdon since the onset of her freshman year.  She is only the second NHHS player to score more than 100 goals prior to completing her junior season and has lead her team in scoring while earning All Conference honors during her sophomore and junior seasons.  Marisa has also played for T3 Elite since seventh grade. She began playing lacrosse in third grade with the Hunterdon Lacrosse Club Mohawks.

Iona competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and against other NCAA Division 1 schools across the country.  It is just one of 113 institutions that offers journalism/mass communications programs that are accredited by the ACEJMC (Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication).  Marisa selected Iona over several other Division 1, 2 and 3 schools that were recruiting her.

Matt McDonald

ALL-WEST JERSEY

Distance runner of the year: Matt McDonald of North Hunterdon had several big-time performances this season. The Princeton-bound McDonald won the 1,600 in a personal-best 4:15.76 and the 3,200 in a meet-record 9:19.27 at the Skyland Conference Championships. He was first in the 1,600 (4:15.81) and 3,200 (9:15.51) at the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Championships. At the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 meet, McDonald won the 3,200 in 9:11.95 and was second in the 1,600. McDonald followed that up with runner-up finishes in the 3,200 at both the state Group 4 meet (9:06.60) and Meet of Champions (9:04.82).

ALL-GROUP 4 SECOND TEAM 3,200-Matt McDonald, North Hunterdon

FINAL RANKINGS:

1. Nazareth 9-0 2. Wilson 11-0 3. North Hunterdon 7-1

FIRST TEAM:

MATT MCDONALD 3,200, North Hunterdon, Sr.

One of the greatest distance runners in region history, North Hunterdon's McDonald was a two-time winner of The Express-Times Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year award and finished his career as the No. 3 ranked 3,200-meter runner of all-time off his second-place 9:04.82 clocking at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions. He also finished No. 8 on the region all-time 1,600 list off the 4:15.76 he turned in at the Skyland Conference Championships. A Princeton recruit, the 6-foot-3 McDonald was remarkably consistent and rarely, if ever, had a sub-par race. Had a good shot of breaking nine-minute barrier in original Meet of Champs race but race was stopped because of lightning with the leaders headed into gun lap. It's the third year in a row that McDonald is a first-team pick in the 3,200.
