Hunterdon Music Association
Dear North Hunterdon High School Students,
Parents, Staff and Community Members:
The North Hunterdon Music Association (NHMA)
is an independent, non-profit organization that supports the music
programs at North Hunterdon High School. This is a volunteer
organization. Everything the organization has accomplished has been
through volunteer work. That's why we look to you for your support
and participation. We strive to focus our efforts on the needs of
our music students, programs and events. That's
why we try to limit our fundraising activities. Thus, increasing
membership is one key way to support all our talented music students
and keep the arts alive and flourishing at North.
We provide many services for the North student
body. This includes but is not limited to:
- Ongoing scholarships for musical workshops
throughout the year.
- Scholarships for graduating seniors.
- Receptions after all concerts.
- Help with purchasing choir uniforms.
- Supporting the band & guard with food &
drink.
- Transporting instruments & equipment for
the band.
- Servicing a coat check for the Homecoming
Dance.
NHMA also keeps our members informed as to
budget issues that may affect your child’s music experience at
North.
Here’s a tip for “old” and “new” North parents
alike: Did you know you can purchase season tickets for home
football games in the North Athletic Office? It is a great deal for
the whole family! Also, if you volunteer to help move equipment for
the band, you never have to pay for a game, home or away!! Find out
how you can participate by using the contact information below.
That said, you can
find a membership form at the link on this page. Please consider
joining even if you do not have a child in any music class or group
right now, as the NHMA serves the entire school population. The
instrumental and vocal groups represent our
school not only at football games, but also at performances within
the community and across the country and includes events such
as competitions & parades.
Together lets look forward to a fantastic year
and an influx of new members and volunteers to make our organization
strong and even more successful to better serve our children.

General Information
The North Hunterdon Music Association, NHMA, is a non-profit
organization composed of concerned parents of North Hunterdon High
School music students. Our function is to encourage, promote, and
support music area students, faculty, and programs. Money from our
fundraisers is used to provide six annual $500 scholarships for
graduating seniors. We also assist in funding
performance/competition trips for the music students. In the past,
NHMA has contributed funds for choral attire, marching band
raincoats, band front flags and uniforms, and other special needs.
NHMA also sponsors the
Gary Gilbert
Memorial Fund. This is named for an incredible individual who
was very much involved with NHMA for several years. Gary was very
excited about music and encouraged students to go further in their
studies. This fund provides help for just that and is open to all
North Hunterdon High School music students. If there is a workshop,
music camp, or seminar your student would like to attend anytime
during the year, NHMA would like to help. Applications can be
obtained from the music teachers.
Meetings are held at NHHS on the second Monday of each month at
7:30 PM in Room 123. Hope to see you there!

for new faces, we always need volunteer's
help and support.

How We Use IT and How We Make IT
NHMA uses its
fund raising dollars directly for student activities. These include
providing anything from paper goods, food and drink for banquets,
concerts, and band activities to clothes for choirs, band items, and
awards for the students. But the
majority of our money is used to provide two types of scholarships
for music students: the first consists of six $500 scholarships for
graduating seniors; and the second type is the Gary Gilbert
Scholarship for partial tuition to further any student’s music
education outside the classroom which are given throughout the year.
The

of which are fundraisers) and the dates that apply:

January -March 19, 2008 - 50/50 Raffle
February 28 - March 2, 2008 - School Musical / Les Miserables
March 19, 2008 - Prism Concert
May 15 and 22, 2008 - Spring Concerts
May 28, 2008 - Music Awards Banquet
