October 2008 Guidance Newsletter

Your Bright Future!
A Newsletter from the
North Hunterdon Guidance Team
A Note for You…
Dear Parents and Students,
We hope this letter finds you well.
We are well into the school year and we were happy to see so many of
you at Back to School Nights, Senior Parent Nights and our recent College
Fair. We appreciate your
involvement on your student’s behalf at our evening programs.
Below are
some dates that are coming up as well as a few notes for each grade.
As always, please be sure to check the guidance website and also the
gifted and talented website for any other programs or information needed for
each grade. Also, if you have
not had a chance to e-mail your counselor, please do as it helps us to
maintain a connection with you through updated information.
Best wishes
to you for a wonderful October!
Sincerely,
The North Hunterdon
Guidance Team

review all the details of the transcript for accuracy. This is especially
important for seniors.
·
Junior Packets -
Please be sure to complete junior packets as soon as you can and deliver them to
your counselor. These are required
for recommendation letters.
·
Visiting Colleges –
Please note that the form
for visiting colleges is on the guidance website.
Your guidance counselor must have the signed form at least three days
before your visit to the college.
·

Keep Grades Up! –
Remember this is the year that the colleges are looking at the most.
It is important that your grades be the best they can be during your
junior year!
·
Join, Join, Join!
– Remember colleges are going to look for
well-rounded students. This is
important whether you are going to college or not.
Be sure to get out there and become involved in school and/or community
groups. Find something you really
love and try to get involved.
Notes for Sophomores and Freshman…
·
Agenda –
Sophomores, please be sure to use your agenda in
writing down assignments. This is a
great habit to get into – as assignments increase throughout the school year.
·
Extra Help –
Many of you have accessed the extra help that is
available to you – this is terrific!! Be sure to make appointments with your
teacher after school for extra help or visit any of the resource rooms that are
available throughout the day. You
are your own best advocate and we have exceptional teachers who want to help you
and see you succeed!
·
Studying for Tests
– Be sure to study little bits at a time – over a long period of time – this
will insure success for you! Cramming seems easier in the moment – but research
has shown that it does not prove as successful!
·
See Your Counselor
- If you need anything at all, your counselor is here to help you.
Please take the time to stop down, e-mail us or drop a guidance pass.
We will try to see you as soon as possible.
We are to help you!
