  • 8th Grade Orientations are being held in January for students and parents.  Current 8th grade students will meet with the high school guidance counselors to prepare their schedule for their freshman year.

  • Strategic Planning update– the district is in the final stages of its strategic planning process.  Four main goals have been established and 3-5 strategies have been developed for each goal.  Committees are currently meeting to create action plans on how to put each strategy into motion.  The final strategic planning report will be presented to the Board of Education for approval at its February 7th meeting.  The report will be made available on the district’s website for the public at that time.
  • NH-V District now has a dedicated autism program, housed at Voorhees High School.  The District’s autism program affords individuals the opportunity to receive an appropriate education in the least restrictive environment of their home district.  This program streamlines students’ experiences to access the high school’s many varied curriculum options and extra-curricular activities.  Students interact with non-disabled peers on a daily basis through integration in classes and peer buddy interventions.  Students are also afforded the opportunity to practice daily living and vocational training skills in their home community.  Beyond the most positive student-centered educational benefits, the operation of this program results in fiscal savings to the district of approximately $40,000 per student.

 OCTOBER 2011

  • Average SAT scores increased or remained the same for 2010-2011 vs. the previous year, and more students took the test in 2010-2011 than in 2009-2010 (see Hunterdon County Democrat article: http://www.nj.com/hunterdon-county-democrat/index.ssf/2011/10/sat_scores_in_hunterdon_county.html)
