Boston University Summer Term High School Programs                  Grades: 9-12

Boston University is offering five exciting opportunities for high school students.  These programs provide a preview of college life, combining academic challenge and a strong social community-making summer the perfect time for your students to experience campus life at Boston University and to get a head start on college.  The five programs include: High School Honors (opportunity for academically motivated rising juniors and seniors to experience undergraduate life while earning college credit), Research in Science and Engineering (RISE) (six week program to advance your knowledge and boost your education—conduct university-level research in laboratories with some of the brightest scientific minds in the nation), Summer Challenge (Experience college life and challenge yourself academically with our two-week residential summer program for rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors), Academic Immersion (focus intensively on one subject while living on a college campus), and Summer Preview (one-week non-credit program offers a choice of three seminars to rising high school freshmen and sophomores).

 

California College of the Arts Pre-College                                             Grades 10 – 12

Programs will run from June 26 – July 21, 2017.  Students may earn 3 college credits. Some of the numerous opportunities include: Creative Writing, Architecture, Animation, Drawing, Painting, Fashion Design, Film, Graphic Design, Illustration, Industrial Design, Jewelry/Metal Arts, Photography, and more…

 

Cornell University Catalyst Program                                  Rising 10th – 12th Grade  Deadline: March 15, 2017

The Cornell University Catalyst Program will run July 10 – July 16, 2016.  Students must be from underrepresented backgrounds.  This is a one-week summer residential program for students who excel in math and science, enjoy problem-solving, and want to learn more about engineering careers.         

 

Cornell University CURIE Academy for Females                                               Female students in grades 10 – 11 may apply                Deadline: March 15, 2017

This opportunity is for female students who excel in math & science and are interested in engineering careers.  This is a one-week summer residential program for female students who enjoy problem-solving and want to learn more about careers in engineering.

 

Duke University Summer Sessions                                                                            Grade eligibility & deadlines vary per program

Duke Summer Academy is offering more of its dynamic courses than ever before.  Whether you want to spend this summer implementing your business ideas, building the foundation for a career in biomedical engineering, or building up community service hours to strengthen your college application, we have a course for you.

 

Furman Summer Scholars                                                            Deadline: May 1, 2017

This is an opportunity for rising high school seniors and juniors to participate in classes led by some of Furman’s favorite professors, live on campus, and get a taste of college life.  Two sessions: July 9-15 or July 16-22.  $1,200 for one-week session and $2,200 for two-week sessions.

 

The George Washington University Pre-College Programs                             Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors                           

The George Washington University offers two different types of summer pre-college programs.  College Intensive is a credit program for rising juniors & seniors.  Summer Immersion is a non-credit program for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors.  Students may participate in one of two sessions which will run throughout the month of July and August.  Fees for individual programs range for commuters and residents.

 

Princeton University’s 10-Day Summer Journalism Program                                   

We welcome 35-40 high school students (rising seniors) from low-income backgrounds every summer to Princeton’s campus for an intensive, 10-day seminar on journalism. The program’s goal is to diversify college and professional newsrooms by encouraging outstanding students from low-income backgrounds to pursue careers in journalism. Northwestern Summer Program                                                           

Center for Talent Development’s (CTD) Equinox program provides rigorous acceleration opportunities for academically gifted and talented students completing grades 9 through 12. Studying at a world-class university in challenging courses, participating in recreational activities and social events with friends, and developing the self-confidence and self-directed learning skills crucial to success in college define the Equinox experience.

 

OxBridge Academic Programs                                                                    Grades 9 – 12 

Students interested in studying abroad during the summer, this is for you.  OxBridge Academic Programs offer students the opportunity to study in Oxford, Cambridge, France, England, Spain, Scotland, Boston, LA, and New York.  Programs run for 2 or 4 weeks during the month of July and numerous courses are offered.

 

Reynolds Young Writers Workshop                                  Deadline: March 15, 2017

The Jonathan R. Reynolds Young Writers Workshop is an eight-day residential summer program in creative writing for current high school sophomores and juniors who love to write.  The workshop will take place from June 18-25.

 

Summer Institute for the Gifted Residential Programs                          Ages 9 – 17

The Summer Institute for the Gifted Residential Programs are 3 weeks long.  Over 80 multi-curricular, arts, and recreational courses are offered.  Each program offers off campus trips.  Programs take place on various college campuses including: Bryn Mawr College, University of Miami, Emory University, Princeton University, UC Berkeley, UCLA, University of Chicago, Vassar College, and Yale University.

 

Susquehanna University Leadership Institute for Entrepreneurship (LIFE)   Rising 10-12 grades may apply                       

This program is business based and is for students who are interested in exploring the following: running their own “virtual” business, presentations, workshops, creating an infomercial, etc… This is a one week program that will be on campus.  The program will be from June 25 -July 1, 2017.  Fees for the program for students who apply by April 1 are $695 and include room, meals, and all program materials.  After April 1, students must pay $795.

 

Susquehanna University Stream Ecology Institute                                            Rising 10-12 grades may apply                       

For a full week, you will be taught the fundamentals of water quality, macroinvertebrate and fish sampling, and identification.  You’ll get plenty of hands-on experience using the latest equipment and methods employed by professionals in the field of aquatic ecology.  The program will be from July 9 -July 15, 2017.  Fees for the program for students who apply by April 1 are $875 and include room, meals, and all program materials.  After April 1, students must pay $925.

 

University of Maryland Terp Young Scholars                         Grades: Rising 10-12 

The Young Scholars Program invites high school students from throughout the U.S. and the world to an exceptional pre-college experience at the University of Maryland.  Rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors with outstanding ability and promise pursue academic interests, discover career opportunities, and earn three university credits.  This summer, be part of an international, multicultural community and experience university life at Maryland.  The program takes place from July 9- 28, 2017.

 

Washington University in St. Louis Summer Experiences 

Washington University in St. Louis offers three options for high school students: High School Summer Scholars Program (5 weeks long): enroll in 2 college courses for credit, transferable to most universities; develop academic skills you will need in college, and live in a residence hall.  The High School Summer Institutes (3 weeks long): students will be able to explore areas of interest while living on campus.  The institutes that are being offered this year include: Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, Creative Writing, Environmental Studies and Sustainability, Communications, Global Leadership, and more.  EducationUSA Academy at Washington University in St. Louis (3 weeks): Noncredit program designed for international students to learn about the American college experience.
