COURSES

ARCHITECTURE DRAFTING & DESIGN I

The Architecture course incorporates both mechanical drawing and CAD (Computer Aided Design) concepts in order to understand how residential homes are designed and constructed.  Students will learn how to use various drafting tools and equipment in order to solve problems relating to the field of Architecture.

Students will have the opportunity to create Architectural designs and models that are functional, safe, and aesthetic.

This course is recommended for those students who are interested in the following:  Engineering, Drafting/Mechanical Drawing, Art, Math, Science, Architecture, Construction, Interior Design, and Landscaping Design

DRAFTING

In this course, students will learn how to use drafting equipment in order to solve various design and drafting problems relating to the field of Engineering.  Students will be required to complete technical drawings using drafting concepts in order to understand the process that engineers must go through in order to manufacture a product or a part.

Although very similar to Engineering Drawing I, Drafting is almost entirely drawing based and is a semester course only.  At the end of the course, students will learn how to use 2D CAD (Computer Aided Design) programs to create technical drawings.

This course is recommended for those students who are interested in the following:  Engineering, Drafting/Mechanical Drawing, Art, Math, Science, and Architecture

ENGINEERING DRAWING I

In this course, students will learn how to use drafting equipment in order to solve various design and drafting problems relating to the field of Engineering.  Students will be required to complete technical drawings using drafting concepts in order to understand the process that engineers must go through in order to manufacture a product or a part.

In addition to 2-dimensional drafting, students will be able to create models 3-dimensionally using various CAD (Computer Aided Design) programs.  CAD-related activities and projects will enable students to express their ideas with technical precision and creativity.

This course is recommended for those students who are interested in the following:  Engineering, Drafting/Mechanical Drawing, Art, Math, Science, Automobiles, Computers, and Architecture

ENGINEERING DRAWING II

In this advanced course of Engineering Drawing, students will use the drafting and CAD concepts they learned in Engineering Drawing I to solve more challenging design problems relating to the field of Engineering.

This course is entirely computer-based, with fewer time spent on mechanical drawings that were produced in the level I course.  CAD projects will include creating new designs as well as redesigning existing products.

This course is recommended for those students who are interested in the following:  Engineering, Drafting/Mechanical Drawing, Art, Math, Science, Automobiles, Computers, and Architecture

GRAPHIC COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY I

Graphic Communications Technology I is a course that will show students how graphics and text can be produced, modified, and oriented to express an idea or a theme in a final product.  Students will learn the fundamental design principles and elements in order to design and produce a clear, effective, and aesthetic design.

Through hands-on activities, students will be able to sketch, illustrate, and design graphics on the computer to present their ideas.  Students will use software programs such as Word, Photoshop, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver.  Activities include poster design, flyer design, t-shirt design, CD cover design, and product design.

This course is recommended for those students who are interested in the following:  Art, Photoshop, Illustrator, Graphic Design, Advertising, and Web Page Design.

GRAPHIC COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY II

In this advanced course of Graphic Communications Technology, students will apply the graphic design concepts and techniques they've learned in the level I course to solve more challenging graphic design problems.

This course heavily encourages creativity and critical thinking skills in order for students to communicate a specific idea or theme by way of hands-on activities.  Activities are more professional in nature, and represent graphic design problems that exist in the real-world.  Activities include logo design, resume design, and product design.

This course is recommended for those students who are interested in the following:  Art, Photoshop, Illustrator, Graphic Design, Advertising, and Web Page Design.

WEB DESIGN & ANIMATION I

In this course, students will learn how to create both a simple web page as well as a web site using various web design principles and techniques.  Students will also have the opportunity to create their own animation using Flash that they can later upload to a web page.

Students will learn how web page design can be incorporated for personal, professional, or educational use.  Students will also learn several methods of creating a web page (HTML and design).  Students will use software programs such as Microsoft Expression Web, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash.

This course is recommended for those students who are interested in the following:  Web Page design, Photoshop, Graphic Design, Animation, and Business.
