Creative Writing Syllabus
Spring Semester 2008

Your marking period will be determined by the following percentages:
SHARING: Periodically, you will be asked to share the work that you write in our class. I will specifically ask for an assignment, or you may share anything we have written the previous week. There will be six opportunities: 25 points each TOTAL: 150 POINTS
WRITING: I will collect your assignments almost every week. You will turn in three to four pieces that you have written for the week. There will be six collections: 50 points each
TOTAL: 300 POINTS
TESTS: I will present information in a lecture format, and you will be responsible for the material. There will be two tests in the first marking period: 100 points each TOTAL: 200 POINTS
ESSAYS: You will be responsible for two formal, in-class essays. You will be asked to interpret a poem and a picture in the first marking period: 100 points each TOTAL: 200 POINTS
PROJECTS: There will be one project in the first marking period. You will be asked to choose a poet, musician, or author and to give a presentation on his/her literary value. There will be time to research in the writing lab before you are asked to present.
TOTAL: 150 POINTS
*****Bring a pen and your notebook to class everyday.
