Students coming into Voorhees High School are given the opportunity to explore a wide range of areas within the fine arts.  The art program is divided into distinct and vitally important areas that enable students to discover and learn about themselves. The Art program encourages students to be more curious and to become risk takers, which is essential for opening avenues of critical and creative thinking.

Our program believes that training in art has potential to:

  • Strengthen our ability to be creative and inventive problem solvers and decision makers.
  • It also enables us to understand and influence the increasingly complex technological environment affecting all aspects of our lives.
  • It enriches understanding of diverse human cultures and histories through the study of art.
  • It enhances our understanding of complex social, cultural and intellectual trends.
  • Finally, it allows us to more fully experience and create our lives as both individuals and as members of a community.

Our diverse program affords students the opportunity to experience the fine arts in a number of content areas each offering entry level to advanced level courses.  The art program currently recognizes 5 Advanced Placement courses as well. Students may choose to take up studies in:

  • Drawing

  • Painting

  • Photography

  • Ceramics

  • Television and Video Production

  • Yearbook Design

  •  Art History
