Meets on M,W.TH in the turf field from 2:30-3:10

  • “Player defined and controlled non-contact team sport played with a flying disc on a playing surface with end zones in which all actions are governed by the ‘spirit of the game’.”*

Ultimate is governed by Spirit of the Game, a tradition of sportsmanship that places the responsibility for fair play on the players rather than referees.  The object of the game is to score by catching a pass in the opponent’s end zone.  Players mover from offense to defense on turnovers that occur with a dropped pass, interception, pass out of bounds or time possession exceeding ten seconds.  The player must stop running when in possession of the disc, pivoting and passing to any other receivers on the field.

Ultimate is a dynamic game that is simple to learn and fun to play.  Sportsmanship and fair play are stressed over competition.  While the latter is encouraged, it is never at the expense of respect between players, adherence to the rules, and the basic joy of play.

At North, Ultimate will be an intramural sport offered in the spring, meeting several times a week from 2:30-3:10, with several “tournament” days for longer play through 5:00.  Team organization, specific rules and play will be student driven.  An organizational meeting will occur in early February.  All students participating must submit forms for the random drug testing pool and have a physical on file.  Forms will be distributed at the organizational meeting.

Our local chapter provides the framework in which eligible selected high school students render special service to the community.  Working together as a group, the chapter multiplies  the benefits of its service.  The society also enables every individual to work in a unique way for the enhancement of the community.  The NHS serves as an excellent training ground for the youth who will be the future leaders in society. NHS members are expected to maintain and extend the qualities that won them selection but also understand that membership is both an honor and an obligation.
