Research strategies

Effective researchers use keywords and synonyms combined with Boolean operators (and, or, not) to create search strings that result in a manageable number of relevant results. Review these tutorials to earn how to identify keywords and use Boolean searching. (Note that all of these resources come from universities, demonstrating that colleges expect students to be skilled researchers.)

Books & E-books

Books about your authors, their works, and associated literary analyses have been reserved in the NHHS Media Center. They are checked out to Ms. Long so that all students will have access to the materials, but you are responsible for looking up the books in the catalog and locating them on the shelves (there is not a cart of reserved books). The books are for in-library use only, and may not be checked out.

 

Some titles are also available electronically as e-books; if so, the catalog record will contain a link to the e-book. In addition, you can search through the following e-book collections for source material:

Electronic databases

Electronic databases are available in the Electronic Databases section of the NHHS Media Center home page. To use the databases from home, you will need the list of passwords, which is available in the Media Center.
