The Hunterdon Regional Autism Center in cooperation with POAC and Hunterdon County Special Child Health Case Management Unit announces a workshop for May 11th, 2010 from 7:00 pm 9:00 pm with Terry Blackwell, BCBA.
Empowering Parents to Solve Problem Behaviors
Many workshops give a broad, general view of their specified topic. This can be particularly frustrating for parents of children with autism who are experiencing challenging behaviors. Even though you may understand the principles being discussed, it’s often not specific enough to help you solve your own problem. You want to walk away with real techniques and the knowledge of how to apply them to your child.
Bring us your children’s problem behaviors and learn to figure them out. T his workshop is designed to present information on Functional Behavioral Assessment to parents of children with autism and other developmental disabilities. You will be provided an introduction to Functional Assessment and explore your real life problems in the home,
including:
● How to determine the function that is maintaining the behavior
● How to employ behavior reduction techniques based on function
Come prepared with your questions, concerns, and problem behaviors.
The workshop will be held in the Auditorium, ground floor of the Hunterdon Medical Center, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
Registration is free but seating is limited. To register got to www.POAC.net or call 732.785.1099.
